An Introduction to OneDrive for Students at Edinburgh College

OneDrive is a cloud storage service from Microsoft that allows you to store all your important files securely in one place

Access them from anywhere, and share them with others. As a student at Edinburgh College, you will use OneDrive for all your file storage requirements. OneDrive is integrated with all other Office 365 applications, making it easy to access and work on your files across different applications.

Here is a brief guide on how you can use OneDrive and its integration with Office 365 applications:

1
Accessing OneDrive

You can access OneDrive by logging into your Office 365 account and selecting the OneDrive app. All your files and folders are displayed here.

Storing Files

You can upload files and folders to OneDrive by clicking the Upload button. These files can be accessed from any device with an internet connection.

2

3
Sharing Files

OneDrive allows you to share files and folders with others. You can control who can view or edit your files. To share a file, right-click on the file and select Share.

Integration with Office 365 Applications

OneDrive is integrated with all Office 365 applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. This means you can open any file stored in OneDrive directly in these applications and any changes you make will be saved back to OneDrive automatically.

For example, if you're working on a Word document stored in OneDrive, you can access it directly from Word without having to download it. Any changes you make will be saved back to OneDrive.

4

5
Collaboration

OneDrive allows you to collaborate with others in real-time. If you share a Word document with a classmate, you can both work on it at the same time in Word Online.

Syncing Files

OneDrive also allows you to sync your files to your local device. This means you can access your files even when you're offline. Any changes you make will be synced back to OneDrive when you're online.

7
Integration with Microsoft Teams

OneDrive is also integrated with Microsoft Teams. When you're in a Teams meeting, you can share a file from your OneDrive. The file will be shared with all participants and they can view or edit it in real-time.

Remember, OneDrive is a powerful tool for storing, sharing, and collaborating on files. It's integrated with all Office 365 applications, making it easy to work on your files no matter which application you're using.
